The Online Text Repository (OTR) is a central storage location for texts, and services for editing and administering these texts.

The OTR differentiates between short texts up to 255 characters in length and long texts of any length. Each text is stored once per package. General texts that occur often are included in the OTR basic vocabulary and can be used across all packages. Text storage is independent of the BSP that references the texts.

The texts are numbered internally. The text number identifies a text concept, including information about alternate spellings, such as abbreviations or length variants, but also translations of the texts and possible localization-specific variations, such as industry-, country-, or customer-specific variants.

The main task of the OTR is to support the creation and translation of texts.

The OTR allows translation of texts for BSP applications and provides additional advantages. Terminology is more uniform and texts can easily be reused. This means texts are of high quality right from the start. This also considerably reduces costs for text corrections, such as for spelling mistakes, inconsistent terminology, incorrect style, and so on. Terminology changes can be done from a central location.

The BSP or BSP application is separated from the texts. Any changes to the BSP do not influence the texts, and vice versa. This means you can translate the texts independently of the BSP.
