SAP Catch
Weight Management
Based on mySAP ERP, SAP Catch Weight Management (SAP CWM) provides industry-specific functions for the complex requirements of the consumer products industry, in particular, for the food industry.
The requirements of the food industry are mainly determined by the fact that the materials used throughout the entire supply chain are carried in two independent units of measure (for example, in the units of measure piece and kilogram).
In addition to the supply chain, the value chain also plays an important role. Valuation in the food industry therefore usually takes place in just one unit of measure, principally the weight unit of measure.
For this reason, SAP CWM provides processes and functions to allow materials to be carried in two independent units of measure throughout the entire supply chain (sales and distribution, purchasing, materials management, production, quality management and logistics execution). SAP CWM also contains costing and inventory management functions and supports integration of Financial Accounting and Controlling, allowing you to map requirements in the valuation area.
To implement SAP CWM, you need the following components:
· SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC)
· LIME as a component of SAP AP (for inventory management)
· Inventory Accounting based on SAP SEM
After you have installed the components you must activate the SAP CWM solution at client level. For more information, see Activating SAP Catch Weight Management.
In the supply chain, you can (in addition to using a standard material) work with a catch weight material that has two equal but independent units of measure: the base unit of measure and the parallel unit of measure.
Within the value chain, you can choose whether the valuation unit of measure for the catch weight material should be based on the base unit of measure or the parallel unit of measure.
This enables you to perform precise inventory management and valuations in the areas of Logistics and Accounting.
To be able to use the functions in SAP CWM, you must activate SAP CWM at client level. However, after activating SAP CWM, there are some functions and processes in the ERP system that you can only use in restricted form, or not at all. For more information, see SAP Note 886761.
In SAP CWM, certain transactions from the ERP system are deactivated. If you call a deactivated transaction, the system issues a message.
In many cases, when you call a deactivated transaction, the system automatically calls an alternative transaction that is valid in SAP CWM.
For a current list of all the deactivated transactions and any alternative transactions that may exist for them, see table /CWM/TRAN_EXCL in the system.

If the system calls an alternative transaction, it informs you of this procedure by issuing a success message. You can prevent the system issuing a success message by entering the parameter ID /CWM/SUPPRESS_S_MESS and the parameter value X in the user profile on the Parameters tab page.
In SAP CWM, some reports from the ERP system are deactivated. For a list of deactivated reports, see table /CWM/REPO_EXCL in the system.
In SAP CWM, some function modules from the ERP system are deactivated. For a list of deactivated function modules, see table /CWM/FUNC_EXCL in the system.
