Use

This Web application provides HR managers or other authorized persons with all the functions they require to check and approve leave requests.

Caution

This Web application is part of the Business Package for Employee Self-Service since it uses the same functions as the Employee Self-Service application, Leave Request and cannot be implemented on its own. However, it has been developed for use in Manager Self-Service.

For more information about all the functions, see Structure linkLeave Request.

Features

·        The worklist provides the approver with a list of all the absences he or she needs to approve. By selecting an absence, he or she can approve or reject it.

·        The manager can use the following functions to help him or her determine whether or not the leave request can be approved:

¡        The Team Calendar enables the manager to check whether the employee’s absence would create a bottleneck in his or her team.

This function also exists as a standalone Web Dynpro application in Manager Self-Service. For more information, see  Team Calendar.

¡        The Time Account function provides the manager with an overview of an employee's leave entitlements and attendance approvals.

This function also exists as a standalone Web Dynpro application, Structure linkTime Accounts in Employee Self-Service. For information about the data sources and possible settings for this function, see Structure linkData Origin of Time Accounts and the Implementation Guide for Employee Self-Service.

¡        After an employee has made changes to an absence, the approver can track the changes made.

·        The approver can enter a note stating the reason for approving or rejecting a request.

Integration

·        As an alternative to this Web application, you can use the RPTARQAPP report (Leave Requests: Approve Documents) in the backend system. It enables you to approve multiple leave requests in batch.

·        In the standard system, there is no direct link to this Web application. Approvers only need to use this application if leave requests exist that are awaiting approval. The most efficient way of approving these leave requests is by using work items in the Universal Worklist. In the standard system, therefore, this Web application can be accessed from the Universal Worklist only. This is provided that you have implemented SAP Business Workflow.

Note

For more information, see Issuing Approvals in the Universal Worklist.

If you do not want to implement SAP Business Workflow, you can include in system administration a separate link to the iView in the Manager Portal. To do this, you should use report RPTARQEMAIL (Leave Requests: Send E-Mails) to inform the approver that leave requests exist that are awaiting approval.

Prerequisites

·        You use SAP Time Management to manage your employees’ time data.

·        You use the Web Dynpro application Structure linkLeave Request.

·        You have made the Customizing settings for the Leave Request, Time Accounts, and Team Calendar. For more information, see the Implementation Guide and choose Personnel Management ® Employee Self-Service ® Service-Specific Settings ® Working Time.
