Background documentation Problems when Printing Using UNIX Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

The following output errors can occur when printing using UNIX:

·        Undesired page and line breaks

·        Printing letters/characters that are part of control commands and that should not be printed

·        Text printed in the wrong character set

·        Special characters are not printed or are replaced by other characters

You cannot identify the locations with errors using the Output Controller (SP01).

Solution

If you have these problems with print data when printing with UNIX and wait queues are occurring, the cause may be the UNIX filter. UNIX requires this filter to print, however the SAP print data stream is already completely formatter and should therefore not be changed by the filter. If output errors of this type occur in your system, you should therefore check whether your UNIX filter is active, and deactivate it if necessary. For more information, see SAP Note 95774.
