Background documentation Single Sign-On Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Once users are authenticated to the portal, they can use the portal to access applications running on other systems. With single sign-on (SSO) established in the portal, users can then access different systems and applications without having to repeatedly enter their user ID and password for authentication.

The available SSO mechanisms in the portal include:

·        SSO with logon tickets: In a multitenant portal, the configuration is slightly different than in a standard portal, since the backend systems must be able to distinguish between logon tickets from the different tenants. For more information, see Single Sign-On With Logon Tickets.

·        SSO with user ID and password: The configuration is the same as in a standard portal. For more information, see Structure linkSingle Sign-On with User ID and Password.

Caution

SSO with user ID and password is not supported by the multitenant portal environment.

For the full range of SSO mechanisms supported by the J2EE Engine, see Structure linkAuthentication on the J2EE Engine.
