Procedure documentation Editing Force Elements Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Prerequisites

You have made the Customizing settings listed below.

You are in the Structures Workbench (edit mode). You may have to select an organizational measure before you can edit force elements.

Create a Root Object

...

       1.      Choose Extras ® Create Root Object.

       2.      Specify the properties for this object and confirm your entries by choosing Execute.

The force element is displayed in the structure area.

       3.      Choose Save.

The force element is created. The new force element is displayed at present as an unrelated object only. Choose Load Force Element ® Structure Search ® Unrelated Objects.

To display the force element in the structure area as a root, assign a different force element to it. Either choose an existing force element or create a new one. Choose Load Force Element and then Structure Search. If the new force element is not yet displayed as a root, choose Refresh.

Creating and Assigning Force Elements

...

       1.      Choose Create Force Element.

       2.      In the Type field, select the required object subtype. The following are shipped with the standard system:

     Force element

The force element for the domestic base, operations, or exercises

     Operation/exercise

The highest-level force element for an operational structure or exercise target (see also Creating/Assigning Objects for Op. Structures/Exercise Targets)

     Reference Force Element

The reference force element for setting up a reference structure

You define object subtypes in Customizing for Defense Forces & Public Security by choosing Organizational Flexibility ® Structures Workbench ® Define Relationship Types/Groups and Object Subtypes.

       3.      Enter the required properties.

Note

If you have chosen Operation/Exercise, enter the properties for the operation or exercise (see also Creating/Assigning Objects for Op. Structures/Exercise Targets).

       4.      On the Objects tab page, enter a short and long name for each force element to be created.

       5.      On the Relationships tab page, select the required relationship type in the Relationships for field.

In Customizing for Defense Forces and Public Security, you can define relationship types by choosing Organizational Flexibility ® Structures Workbench ® Define Relationship Types/Groups and Object Subtypes. A relationship type represents a relationship or a group of relationships. Each relationship type can be subdivided into various relationship groups.

A group of relationships that must be created

A group of relationships comprising at least one relationship that must be created

A group of relationships that can be created

       6.      Specify a higher-level force element for each relationship provided. In line with the relationship groups, the system checks whether you have made all the required entries.

Note

If you have chosen Root Object, do not specify a higher-level force element.

       7.      Choose Continue and save your changes.

Copy and Assign a Force Element

...

       1.      Choose the required structure and, in the structure area, select the force element that you want to copy.

       2.      Choose Structure Operations ® Copy Force Element.

       3.      If required, you can again specify a different force element as a template in the Element field.

       4.      Specify which assigned objects or which object assignments are also to be copied:

     Structure

The lower-level substructure

     Authorized Personnel

The assigned positions with relationships.

     Authorized Material

Assignments to material planning objects, material containers, and equipment packages

     Documents

Assigned documents

     Logistical Reqmts

Assignments to provisions packages

The system automatically assigns the status Planned to all copied objects or assignments, regardless of the status of the template.

In Customizing for Personnel Management, you can specify which infotypes are to be copied or not copied by choosing Organizational Management ® Hierarchy Framework.

By default, all infotypes, with the exception of infotypes 1980, 1981, and 1982, are copied.

Stock elements, provision elements, and assignments to logistics work centers are also copied. External relationships that are stored in infotypes 1955 and 1985 are also copied (in contrast to the external relationships in tables /ISDFPS/OR*).

When the authorized materials are copied, only those assignments with the usage types of the initial structure are also copied. The copies are then automatically assigned the usage type of the target structure.

       5.      In the Valid from/Valid to fields, specify the validity period for the copy.

       6.      As when you create a force element, select the required relationship type, the required relationships, and each force element to which you want to assign the copy.

In Customizing for Defense Forces & Public Security, you can define which object types and relevant relationships are proposed for copying by choosing Organizational Flexibility ® Structures Workbench ® Define Relationship Types/Groups and Object Subtypes .

Note

Note that all new force elements are assigned the relationships selected here, and not just those whose template includes the relevant relationships.

       7.      Choose Continue.

       8.      If necessary, rename the copy and confirm your entries.

The copy is created and appears in the structure area at the specified position within the structure. You can now change or supplement the copy’s properties as required.

       9.      Save your changes.

Delete/Delimit a Force Element

...

       1.      Select the required force element in the structure area.

Note

You can delete force elements with the status Planned only.

       2.      Choose Structure Operations ® Delete Force Element or Delimit Force Element.

If you want to delimit a force element, you have to enter a delimitation date.

       3.      Confirm your entries.
