Technical Infrastructure of the Alert
Monitor 
The monitoring architecture allows you to monitor a large number of systems and servers. There are a large number of useful functions in the technical infrastructure of the Alert Monitor that allow you to obtain information about the various systems in your IT landscape, their properties and status, and also to set important statuses:

You can
obtain an overview of the systems,
CCMS agents,
monitoring segments and
contexts of which your IT environment consists.
· You can decide which systems are to be monitored by the Alert Monitor and for which systems availability monitoring should be performed.
· You can combine multiple systems in system groups and specify these when selecting systems to be monitored.
To use a function from the technical infrastructure, start the Customizing transaction of the Alert Monitor. To do this, choose CCMS ® Configuration ® Alert Monitor, or call transaction RZ21. In the Monitoring: Properties and Methods screen, choose the desired command from the Technical Infrastructure menu. The following functions are available:
Use this function to obtain an overview at any time of the connections of the central monitoring system to SAP systems, segments, contexts, or CCMS agents that are known to the monitoring architecture.
You can quickly isolate connection problems and test connections using the hierarchy of systems, segments, and contexts. You can also obtain a quick overview of which monitoring segments, application servers, or CCMS agents are currently online.
· Reorganize Segment Table
If nodes in
the Alert Monitor are not provided with data, this can be due to monitoring
contexts being in an incorrect segment. This is often the case after a system
copy or after copying from application servers (in most cases, the segment
table is also copied). In this case, select the Delete all local application
server entries radio
button and choose Execute
(
) (see also SAP Note
422129). The table is filled with correct entries again within five
minutes.
To delete
entries for inactive application servers, select Reorganize local application server entries
and choose Execute (
). Use this command if you
are no longer using an application server.
· Activating and Deactivating Method Execution
Use this command to activate or deactivate both of the following functions: Background dispatching starts all of the data collection methods that should be periodically executed as jobs; the central system dispatching is required for central auto-reaction methods.
The Central Performance History (CPH) allows you to save performance values of the monitoring architecture long-term, and to output these values in reports to compare the current performance data with its earlier development.
The CCMS System Component Repository (SCR) is a database for storing data for systems and components in an SAP IT landscape. The component was added in SAP R/3 4.6C. It provides an information store for functions that operate beyond the boundaries of a system or a component.
Transactional RFC and queued RFC are variants of the Remote Function Call that make the data transfer between different systems more reliable and more secure. You can monitor these calls using the Alert Monitor.
· Availability Monitoring
¡ Configuring CCMSPING Monitoring
With availability monitoring, you can monitor the availability of remote SAP systems and their application servers in the Alert Monitor of a central SAP system. Availability monitoring means that the central system determines whether a system and its application servers are running and available for work. In addition, as of SAP Web Application Server 6.20, it provides you with important performance data about the dialog system for monitored application servers.
You can use the Generic Request and Message Generator (GRMG) to monitor the availability of technical components and entire business processes. GRMG is suitable both for technical monitoring and for application monitoring.
