PDC Interface Using Browser 

Use

With this interface you can use PDC units to process important business transactions without any great technical effort.

Integration

In the browser-based procedure you save PDC data in a PC file, before transferring it from the SAP Retail Store application to SAP Retail using the Internet browser.

The browser-based PDC procedure is not suitable for transferring large amounts of data. Moreover, this procedure cannot be used to supply PDC units with data automatically.

Prerequisites

The PDC units that you use must be able to issue the data as a file.

For the data to be imported into SAP Retail Store, the files must have the content and format described here.

The following general prerequisites relating to the content of the PDC files apply for SAP Retail Store:

ASCII file with header information in line 1 and order items as of line 2.

A line end marked by the characters CR and LF.

All fields are left aligned, alphanumeric, and are filled from the right with blank characters. Fields containing no data are filled with blank characters.

SAP reserves the right to change the format of the PDC file in future releases of the SAP System. This may mean that you need to adjust the PC software you use to upload data from the PDC unit and to create the PDC files.
