Automatic Number Assignment 

Use

When you create the article hierarchy in the SAP Retail system and when it is imported via an interface, the system assigns an internal number to the individual nodes. The number can have a maximum of 16 digits. You can control whether the number range interval is to be rolling using the number range object. When you delete article hierarchy assignments, the system can reuse the numbers that become available.

 

We recommend that you use non-rolling number range intervals, as the search for a free number can be very performance-intensive.

If you do not want to use internal number assignment, you can use manual number assignment instead. To do so, deactivate internal number assignment in Customizing or activate manual number assignment. In the standard system, internal number assignment is deactivated.
