Support Package stacks provide regular updates of SAP NetWeaver. For software updates of SAP NetWeaver BI, there are BI-specific Support Packages within the stacks.

We recommend that you always implement a complete Support Package Stack in all NetWeaver systems so that all components have the same status. This is the only way to ensure meaningful support. 

SAP Notes provide urgent corrections and solutions for smaller problems.

Software maintenance for SAP NetWeaver BI:

Installing the available support packages and patches

Updates for SAP NetWeaver BI components are performed with the implementation of Support Packages. The available Support Packages can be found in the SAP Support Portal at service.sap.com/swdc under: Download ® Support Packages and Patches ® Entry by Application Group ® SAP NetWeaver ® SAP NETWEAVER ® SAP NetWeaver <Release Name> ® Entry by Component ® BI ® SAP/BI Product-/Release Name.

We recommend that you read the respective Support Package Stack Guide before installing a Support Package stack. You will find this documentation in the SAP Support Portal at service.sap.com/swdc under: Download ® Support Packages and Patches ® Entry by Application Group ® SAP NetWeaver ® SAP NETWEAVER ® SAP NetWeaver <Release Name>. Select the required stack and the documentation button as well.

Special updates for the front-end of SAP NetWeaver BI will be provided using front-end patches. You will find them at service.sap.com/swdc under: Download ® Support Packages and Patches ® Entry by Application Group ® SAP NetWeaver ® SAP NETWEAVER ® SAP NetWeaver <Release Name> ® Entry by Component ® Front-end GUIs.

Implementing individual corrections

To solve smaller problems, there are individual corrections in the form of SAP Notes.

SAP Notes can be found in the SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/notes.

The SAP Note assistant (transaction SNOTE) is supported for ABAP components of Business Intelligence.
