Background documentation TCP/IP Settings Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

As a prerequisite for communication, make the following TCP/IP settings:

·        The TCP/IP requirements must be met (especially the IP addresses in the hosts files) so that the SAP system can find the destination system.

·        Enter the name of the gateway and the dispatcher in the file services, for example sapgw00 and sapdp00.

·        By default, IDocs are sent out from the update in the SAP system. For this reason, the TCP/IP link must also be created for the updating system.

·        Work in registration mode. By doing so, the connection between the external system program and the gateway remains open. For more information, see Structure linkRegistering Server Programs with the SAP Gateway.

If you do not work in registration mode, the SAP Gateway should be able to start the external program (RFC server) via the remote shell.

For more details on the TCP/IP settings, see the documentation Structure linkBC – SAP Communication: Configuration.
