This section
describes the technical system landscape of the usage type MI and discusses
the components involved.
The following figure shows the main components of an MI landscape and the
communication between these components:
The infrastructure consists of a server component and a client component. The client component provides a runtime for the mobile applications and the mobile device. It offers generic services by means of an API, which the mobile applications can access. The server component incorporates the application server for ABAP and Java and handles the receipt and transfer of data to and from the client and application back end. It also contains all the monitoring and software logistics tools for Mobile Infrastructure.

Application Back End |
The back end of a mobile application comprises Customizing and repository objects. Both kinds of objects are transported using the standard mechanisms of the SAP Change & Transport System. |
