The Enterprise Data Warehousing scenario involves various administrative tasks. The main tasks are listed in the Data Warehousing Workbench within the Administration functional area.

The following will provide you with an overview of these tasks:

Task

Description and Detailed Information

Manage process chains

You use process chains to control and automate the processes in BI.

See also: Structure linkProcess Chain Maintenance.

Modify changes to hierarchies and attributes

If the hierarchies and attributes of characteristics that belong to an InfoCube have been changed, you have to make structural changes to the aggregates in order to modify the data accordingly.

(See also Structure linkSystem Response Upon Changes to Data: Aggregate)

Set up authorizations

Standard authorizations are required by users who work in the Data Warehousing Workbench, the Business Explorer, the Planning Workbench, the Data Mining Workbench or with the Analysis Process Designer.

Analysis authorizations are required for all users who want to display transaction data from authorization-relevant characteristics or navigation attributes in a query.

See also: Structure linkSetting Up Standard Authorizations and Structure linkManagement of Analysis Authorizations

Manage BI metadata search and BI documents

See also: Structure linkManaging the BI Document Administration.

Remodel InfoCubes (change them once data has already been loaded into the InfoCube)

See also: Structure linkRemodeling InfoProviders

Repartition InfoCubes

See also: Structure linkRepartitioning.

Archive request administration data

To improve the performance of actions for which requests are called, you can archive old request administration data in the tables RS*DONE and RSMON* that is no longer needed.

See also: Structure linkArchiving Request Administration Data

Analyze BI objects

In the analysis and repair environment, you can perform consistency checks on the data and metadata stored in a BI system.

See Structure linkAnalysis and Repair Environment

Making day-to-day settings

You can set the following parameters:

InfoProvider: Statistics, data loading and query properties

     DataStore objects: runtime parameters

Aggregates: Parameters for structure and change run

Data transfer BI system: Threshold for the frequency of Info Idocs, package and partition sizes

OLAP cache. Size (globally, locally), persistency mode

DB connect: application server, package size, number of data records in display mode

System parameters such as background user for ALE communication and debugging users

You can make lock settings for planning.

You can make settings for BI background administration, especially settings for parallel processing of BI processes.
