Article
Definition
This object is used in the POS interface - outbound to transfer data relating to articles on sale in the stores concerned. These articles are or were listed in the stores concerned. The data that is to be transferred includes all the information required at the point of sale, such as texts, prices, EAN/UPCs, and POS data up to a specific validity date.
IDoc type: WP_PLU02
The object is time-dependent.
Structure
This object is one of the POS outbound objects that can be reduced using the ALE layer. For this, the newly created, reduced message type must be entered in the store’s POS outbound profile.
The following subobjects belong to the Article object:
- Article texts (article short texts and till receipt texts)
- Article conditions (for example, sales and promotion prices) including price scales.
Integration
The following conditions must be met before SAP Retail can transfer the data to the POS systems:
- The article must be managed in the store during the preparation period (generally the store lead time).
- The article must have already been listed in the store.
- The merchandise category for the article cannot be excluded for transfer to this store. The article merchandise category must already be assigned to the store. If you have not made this assignment, then goods must be able to be dispatched using all the merchandise categories in the store’s POS outbound profile. In this case, the assumption is that the prices that have been transferred do not yet have any sales taxes, as the indicator Price Including Value-Added Tax (segment E1WPA02) is contained in the assignment table, and it can, therefore, only be transferred using the initial value SPACE.
- The article category for this article must refer to a standard or a group article. Hierarchy articles and merchandise category reference articles are not transferred to the POS systems. Merchandise category articles are not usually transferred to the POS systems either unless you make special settings explicitly for this in the store POS outbound profile.
- The article must have a main EAN/UPC and a sales price.
Articles are identified at POS using EAN/UPC. Many articles have different EAN/UPCs and prices for different sales units. If you cannot guarantee that only the main EAN/UPC will be scanned at the POS, always transfer all the EAN/UPCs and prices for an article in their different sales units to the POS systems. The system then determines the sales unit using the sales price.
In POS outbound processing, you can determine the number of EAN/UPCs that the system transfers for each article with a user exit.
