Ad Hoc Query and Analysis

This scenario variant shows how business experts can analyze data ad hoc, create query views, and save and distribute the results of ad hoc analyses. The BEx Web Analyzer is available in the Business Explorer (BEx) for this purpose. The Web Analyzer is a user-friendly analysis tool that can be called in the Web browser using a URL or in the portal as an iView .

It demonstrates how business experts can use data providers based either on data from SAP NetWeaver BI or from multidimensionally stored data from third-party providers to analyze business data in the Web or in the portal in a user-friendly way.

Assign portal roles	So that users can call the BEx Web Analyzer as an iView in the portal, assign them the portal role com.sap.ip.bi.business_explorer_showcase. This includes the BEx Web Analyzer and provides examples of how you can work with BI content in the portal. For more information, see Business Explorer Portal Roles and Role Assignment.
Administration of Adobe document services	So that users can create a print version of the ad hoc analysis in the BEx Web Analyzer (in the form of a PDF file), you have to configure and manage Adobe document services. You can also find this documentation in the SAP Solution Manager under Solutions ® Basic Configuration ® SAP NetWeaver 2004s ® Usage Type AS Java.
Create external data sources in the system landscape of the portal	So that users can perform ad hoc analyses in the BEx Web Analyzer based on multidimensionally stored data from external sources, you have to create the appropriate data sources in the system landscape using BI Java Connectors. You define these settings in the SAP Reference IMG ® SAP Customizing Implementation Guide ® SAP NetWeaver ® Business Intelligence ® UDI Settings by Purpose ® Integration of BEx Web. Reorganization of bookmarks

You use report RSWR_BOOKMARK_REORG (transaction SA38) to reorganize and delete bookmarks. A bookmark is a saved navigational state of a Web application and is generated by saving ad hoc analyses in the BEx Web Analyzer, for example.
