Function documentation Processing Maintenance Group Hierarchies Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You can process hierarchies for maintenance groups in Maintenance Group Management. You can create new nodes and process existing ones.

You can assign the maintenance groups to hierarchy nodes.

Features

The system displays the hierarchy tree on the left-hand side of the screen. The unique top node of the hierarchy is the Maintenance Group Usage node. The first level of the hierarchy includes the Cross-Application, Application-Specific, and Templates nodes.

·        Under the Cross-Application node, you can define cross-application maintenance groups. You can select these maintenance groups during core master data processing and in customer-specific developments.

·        Under the Application-Specific node, SAP provides a predefined subnode for each application that is known to use maintenance groups.

·        Under the Templates node, you can define maintenance groups that you can copy to create or enhance productive maintenance groups. It is only in Maintenance Group Management that you cannot use these templates productively.

You cannot process, that is to say, create or delete, the top node level and the first level of the hierarchy. You can create customer-specific nodes and maintenance groups at all subsequent levels.

Creating hierarchy nodes

If you want to create a new node, select the node under which you want to create the new node and choose Create Nodes in the context menu of the node. On the right-hand side of the screen you can define the node name, node description, and the authorization group. You can also create additional language-dependent descriptions for the node.

Creating and changing hierarchy nodes

If you want to display or create a hierarchy node, select the required node. On the right-hand side of the screen, the system displays the node ID, name and description, as well as the authorization group.

You can change the node name, node description and, if you have the necessary authorization, the authorization group. You can also display and change the language-specific descriptions.

Deleting hierarchy nodes

You cannot delete the top node, the first level nodes, or the third-level nodes under the Application-Specific node. You can, however, delete all nodes that you have created.
