The Collaboration capabilities of SAP NetWeaver allow online communication and collaboration in the portal.

This section provides information about the administration and maintenance of Collaboration in the Enterprise Portal (EP) usage type. It describes the tasks and the corresponding tools. In addition, it points you to further documentation that you require for performing these tasks.

Technical System Landscape

The Collaboration capabilities are installed with the SAP NetWeaver EP (Enterprise Portal) usage type. Collaboration builds on basic capabilities of the Portal and Knowledge Management. Like the Portal and Knowledge Management, Collaboration is based on the development platform Java 2, Enterprise Edition (J2EE). Tasks

The administration and maintenance tasks for Collaboration are carried out either as required or periodically. Overall, the following groups of tasks are possible:

·        Monitoring

This includes specific monitoring functions for Collaboration applications. In addition, the general monitoring and logging applications in the portal are available.

·        Administration

This includes functions that you use to administrate the Collaboration applications in production operations and that you can modify to suit current company-specific requirements.

·        Software logistics

This includes specific functions that provide support during the following phases:

¡        Setting up the software landscape

¡        Maintaining your software

¡        Localization, rollout

¡        Integration of third-party products

·        Troubleshooting

This includes functions that check critical settings in the Collaboration area and report any problems.
