Use

Configure the data collection service to change how the portal gathers data about portal activity.

You can do one of the following:

     Set properties of the data collection service, as described below.

     Set whether the service collects data about which users viewed which iViews and pages, as described in Configuring Pages/iViews for Data Collection.

Prerequisites

You have permissions to the Service Configuration page and to the com.sap.portal.activityreport.core service. By default, members of the built-in system administrator role have the required permission.

Procedure

...

       1.      Navigate to the Service Configuration Editor:

                            a.      From the top-level navigation, choose System Administration  ®  System Configuration.

                            b.      In the detailed navigation, choose Service Configuration. The Service Configuration Editor is displayed.

       2.      Open the configuration page for the data collection service:

                            a.      In the Portal Catalog, navigate to Applications  ® com.sap.portal.activityreport.core  ®  Services ® ActivityReport.

                            b.      Right-click ActivityReport and choose Configure. The properties for the portal activity report application are listed.

       3.      The data collection service is turned on by default. To turn it off, set the following property to false (the property is not case sensitive):

Activate portal activity report

Starts and stops the data collection service.

Enter true (default) or false.

       4.      Configure the data collection service by setting the following additional properties (properties are not case sensitive):

First day of the week

Sets the first day of the week for weekly reports.

The default is Monday.

Gather iView statistics

Enables and disables the gathering of activity information about iViews.

Enter true (default) or false.

Gather page statistics

Enables and disables the gathering of activity information about pages.

Enter true (default) or false.

Gather statistics about remote users of local content
(global portal)

Enables and disables the gathering of activity data for remote users from another producer portal using content on your portal. This setting is applicable only if you have implemented a federated portal network (see Implementing a Federated Portal Network).

Enter true (default) or false.

Number of days for daily data retention

Specifies, in days, how long to retain daily statistics.

The default is 90 days.

Number of days for hourly data retention

Specifies, in days, how long to retain hourly statistics.

The default is 30 days.

Number of days for monthly data retention

Specifies, in days, how long to retain monthly statistics.

The default is 730 days.

Number of days for quarterly data retention

Specifies, in days, how long to retain quarterly statistics.

The default is 1460 days.

Number of days for weekly data retention

Specifies, in days, how long to retain weekly statistics.

The default is 365 days.

Save interval (minutes)

Specifies, in minutes, how often to save activity data to the database. A shorter period uses less memory but requires more-frequent resource-intensive save operations.

The default is 60 minutes.

       5.      Select Save to save your settings.

To restore the default settings, select Restore Default.

Note

You must restart the service for the changes to take effect. Perform the following steps to restart the service.

       6.      In the Portal Catalog, navigate to Application  ® com.sap.portal.activityreport.core.

       7.      Right-click com.sap.portal.activityreport.core and Administrate. The Application Details Editor is displayed.

       8.      Click Restart to restart the portal activity report application.
