Retailers that require offline capability can configure a POS terminal to operate when not connected to the primary server. For example, if you require a standalone or portable POS terminal in an offline state, such as a temporary or seasonal outdoor setup like a garden center cash register. The offline POS terminal can perform basic transaction processing functions while disconnected from any other system. When the offline POS terminal reconnects to the primary server all transaction information, including all manually entered customer data that took place in the offline state, is replicated to the primary server and can be viewed in the Electronic Journal Viewer.

If the price of an item is changed using the POS Manager application, while an online transaction is in progress, the new price is automatically reflected at the POS terminal if it goes offline.

Gift card sales and functions that require access to centralized or external services such as debit, and pending transactions are not available when the POS terminal is in the offline state. All EFT (electronic fund transfer) authorizations are done locally, either automatically if the amount to authorize is below the floor limit or manually if it is above the limit and the configuration settings allow manual authorization. For more information about the settings, see the Auto Authorization Max. Amount for Offline parameter in Functions.

Note Note

Password changes cannot be made and the Close Store function must be disabled for offline client (OLC) mode.

End of the note.
Client.properties

In the client.properties file, you must add a setting to indicate which server is the OLC server (it can be 2 or 3, for example 2.connectivity.isolc=true). The primary server is the one prefaced with the connection index 1 and cannot be the OLC server. For an example of the client.properties file, see Installing the POS Client in the SAP Enterprise POS Installation Guide.

Forms

On the Data Forms window in the Conditionally Required parameter, you must choose Not Required On OLC Server. For more information about data forms, see Forms.
