Eligibility rules check if each merchandise item in a special function-activated transaction, such as a global discount transaction, is eligible for the requested special function, such as a discount. You can set up and run eligibility rules to ensure not to discount certain items (for example, tobacco products or lottery tickets) in transactions if it is the store policy to not make these items eligible for discounts or promotional markdowns. Once defined, you can activate item eligibility rules after they are linked to functions that are selected at the time of the sale.

This section describes eligibility parameters for adding an inclusion or exclusion rule.
