This section provides information about how to configure bar codes in the Configurator application.

The Bar Codes component allows you to create a standard bar code definition that can be used in document formatting definitions. A bar code is a scannable form of data entry that contains specific transaction information such as the store, terminal, cashier, and transaction number.

Example Example

A receipt with a bar code containing all relevant details of the transaction can be suspended and later resumed ensuring that the original transaction is quickly and accurately retrieved from the database. Bar codes also make the returns process easier because they can accurately link the return back to the original transaction.

End of the example.

Once you create the bar code definition, it is inserted in to a document definition. The bar code can contain as many elements as required to completely identify the required entity and each element is defined in a separate row.
