Enabling the Use of E-Mail NotificationsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Enterprise workspaces can send e-mail notifications upon various events or actions. For example, when a user requests to join a restricted workspace, an e-mail notification containing the request details is sent to the workspace owner and managers. Then, once the user is added as a member, another e-mail notification is sent to the user.

To enable e-mail notifications in enterprise workspaces, you need to configure the return address for e-mails, and the properties of the SMTP server.

You can also configure e-mail notifications for a workspace with no owner.

For information about customizing the content of the e-mail notifications, see Configuring E-Mail Notifications.

Prerequisites

You are assigned the portal Workspace System Administration role.

Procedure
  1. In the portal, navigate to Start of the navigation path Workspace Administration Next navigation step Configuration End of the navigation path.

  2. Choose the System tab.

  3. Under Access, specify the Server URL.

This URL is used in e-mail notifications that contain a link to a workspace.

    Format: http(s)://server:port/irj/connection/alias

  4. Under E-Mail specify the following properties:

    • SMTP Server Host

      For example: mail.mycompany.com

    • SMTP Server Port

      For example: 25

    • System Administration E-Mails

The default address for all e-mails to and from the workspaces system administrators. The address can be several valid e-mail addresses, in a comma-separated list.

      For example: sysadmin@mycomany.com

    • Return E-Mail Address

Used as the default 'From' address for all e-mails that are not sent by a specific sender.

      For example: do.not.reply@mycompany.com
