Procedure documentationEditing Documents Locate this document in the navigation structure

You can download documents for editing on your local machine. If you do this as described below, the system sets a lock on the document in question to ensure that other users cannot change the document while you are editing it. The system removes the lock when you upload the document again as described below. You can also unlock documents manually.

Procedure

  1. In the Document List, select the document and choose Download for editing (Download for editing).

The system opens the File Download dialog box and locks the item.

    Note Note

When you double-click a document, the document opens, but is not locked. You can then save it locally, but you cannot make changes to the opened object and upload the modified object back into the document list.

    End of the note.
  2. Choose Open.

The document opens in its respective viewer or editor.

  3. When you have finished editing the document, navigate to the Document List again, select the document that you edited, and choose Upload edited document (Upload edited document).

The file selection dialog box of your operating system appears.

  4. Select the file that you have edited and choose Open.

The system uploads the document to the workspace and removes the lock.

Unlock a Document Manually

You can only unlock documents that you have locked yourself. To unlock a document manually, in the Document List toolbar, choose Unlock (Unlock).

To see who has locked an object, hover the cursor over the object. The tooltip displays the name of the portal user who has locked the object.
