Procedure documentationCreating a Workspace Template Locate this document in the navigation structure

Creating a workspace template involves defining the template properties, such as name, description, and language, and then defining the content and layout of the template.

Note Note

This procedure is valid for both shared and personal workspaces. The only difference is that the dialog box for creating a personal workspace also contains a check box for setting the template as the default template for personal workspaces.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

You are assigned the Workspace System Administration role.

Procedure

  1. In the portal, navigate to   Workspace Administration   Workspace Templates  .

  2. Choose New from the table that corresponds to the type of template to create.

The New Template dialog box appears.

  3. Specify the following:

    1. Name – A clear and distinctive name

    2. Description – The purpose and contents of the template

    3. Language – The language represents the master locale and affects the translation of the template name and description. At a later stage, the template should be translated to all supported languages.

    4. Set as default – Only for personal workspace templates. Select this check box to set this as the default template for personal workspaces.

  4. Choose OK.

  5. The workspace authoring environment opens in a separate browser window.

  6. Create the workspace template. In each page of the workspace template, choose Add Content to add module placeholders to the page, and choose Layout to determine the layout of the page.

    Note Note

When you add a module to a workspace template consider the permissions and security implications, as this module could be exposed to users who do not have authorization to view or access its content.

    End of the note.

For more information, see Organizing Content in a Workspace.

  7. Choose Done.
