CCMS agents are no longer required for purely SAP NetWeaver 7.1 landscapes; their functions are performed by SAP NetWeaver Management Agents. More information about when you still require CCMS agents for SAP NetWeaver 7.1: CCMS Agents: Central Monitoring for Components up to SAP NetWeaver 7.0.

If you want to monitor a system with CCMS agents, you require an agent for every instance (central instance and possible dialog instances) of the system. In the case of Java standalone and dual-stack systems up to SAP NetWeaver 7.0, this is automatically ensured. In the case of ABAP systems, you need to install the appropriate agent for each instance of the system.
After you have completed the registration, the CCMS agent transfers monitoring information for the relevant component to CEN. For information about displaying this monitoring information, see Displaying Agent Data in the Central Monitoring System.
