Activate the Service

Your backend system has to be registered as an SAP system alias in the SAP NetWeaver Gateway Implementation Guide (IMG) on your SAP NetWeaver Gateway system. In addition, an RFC destination has to be defined in transaction SM59. We recommend establishing a trusted RFC connection to the backend system. Additionally a dedicated user is needed.

Then you can activate your service in the SAP NetWeaver Gateway hub system. As a preliminary step logon to your SAP NetWeaver Gateway system. In transaction SPRO open the SAP Reference IMG and navigate to  SAP NetWeaver  Gateway  OData Channel  Configuration  Connection Settings  SAP NetWeaver Gateway to SAP System  Manage SAP System Aliases  and register your SAP system on the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system. If necessary you can also add a new system alias. See Creating the SAP System Alias for Applications for more information.

1. In the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system go to transaction SPRO, open the SAP Reference IMG and navigate to  SAP NetWeaver  Gateway  OData Channel  Administration  General Settings  Activate and Maintain Services .
2. Click Add Service to find your service from the backend system.

   

3. Enter the System Alias of your backend system. To limit the result you can also enter Technical Service Name, Technical Service Version, External Service Name, and/or External Mapping ID.

   

   The list of services in your backend system displays.
4. Select the service which you want to activate by single click.
5. Enter all mandatory fields and choose Continue.

   

6. Typically two new repository objects are created. Confirm that you want to create them.

   

   If you confirm the creation, the refreshed Add Service screen is displayed again and the newly created service will have disappeared from the selection.
7. Return to the overview screen with the service catalog with F3. Your service is part of the list now.
8. Test the service by selecting it and choose Call Browser in the ICF Nodes section.
