Managing Version History
You can manage multiple versions of pages and restore previous versions of pages. When version management is enabled, a version of the page is saved each time you publish the page, and also when you choose
(Save Version) from the toolbar. You can save up to 10 versions of a page. After 10 versions, saving a new version overwrites the oldest version. Administrators can configure the number of saved versions.
You enable version management on folders, areas, and pages. Objects inherit the version management settings of the object under which they are located, unless you break the inheritance chain by changing the version management settings in a specific object in the chain. Versioning does not effect shared content.
You use the Version history editor to enable version management, to restore saved versions, and to delete versions that are no longer needed.
Note
You must republish the page to make the restored version visible to portal users.
Choose the relevant folder, area, or page, and from the editor dropdown list select Version history.
In the Version history editor, choose the Keep version history checkbox.
If you enable version management on a folder, area, or page group, the settings apply for all objects within that object.
If you have changed the version management settings for specific objects within a hierarchy, you can later realign the configuration with the parent object in one of the following ways:
Choose the object whose version management configuration has been changed, and in the Version History editor, choose Restore Alignment.
Choose the folder, area, or page group containing objects whose version management configuration is no longer aligned, and in the Version history editor, choose Reset Configuration.
Note
When you create folders, areas, and pages you can specify to enable version management as part of the creation process.
To save a version of a page, choose
(Save Version) from the toolbar.
A version is also saved each time you publish a page.
To access saved versions, choose a page, and from the editor dropdown list, select Version history.
The version history editor displays all the versions that have been saved, sorted according to time and date.
To delete a version, select the relevant row in the table and choose Delete.
To restore a version, select the relevant row in the table and choose Restore Version. Publish the page again to make the restored version visible to portal users.
Note
You cannot restore versions in the following cases:
The page is locked by another user.
The page is pending approval.
The page has been scheduled for publication.
