Adding Application ComponentsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

You have opened a Process Integration scenario.

Context

You can assign an Application Component to a Process Integration scenario and give it a role. You specify the implementing product version for the application component and possibly extend it with an enhanced name. In addition to this you can specify what the WSCI interface of the application is to be called.

Procedure


  1. Move the cursor over the free area within the Process Integration scenario graphic (in the Process Integration Scenario Editor ).

  2. In the context menu, choose Add Application Components .

    The Add Application Components dialog box appears.

    Here you can select the type

    • Product Version for the application component (defined in the System Landscape Directory)

    • Main Instances for the application component (defined in the System Landscape Directory)

    • Template for the application component (if no other relevant product is defined in the System Landscape Directory)

  3. Within the Application Component Type , select the relevant selection button.

    • If you choose Product Version or Main Instance , call the input help for the entry field a choose a product version from a list.

      Note

      All software component versions that are assigned to this product version ‎are displayed within the Related Software Component Versions .

    • If you choose Template , the Product Version does not display an entry.

      Note

      The software component version that the Process Integration scenario is assigned to is displayed in the Related Software Component Versions .

  4. Specify the role of the appliction component on the Role tab page (optional).

  5. If the application component is supposed to represent an Integration Process , select the Integration Process tab page. Here you select the Integration Proces (from the Enterprise Services Repository).

  6. Enter an extended name on the Other Attributes tab page (optional).

    The extended name can be used:

    • To specify a function area of a product in more detail.

      Example

      For example, you could give an application component with product version SAP R/3 4.6C the extended name SAP FIN to show that the subarea Financials is of interest in this particular Process Integration scenario.

    • To specify the product name if you are dealing with a template for the application component type.

  7. Specify a name for the WSCI interface (optional).

  8. Choose Copy .

Results

An application component is added as a vertical colored column to the graphical work area of the Process Integration Scenario Editor. The role, product version, and extended name are dispalyed at the top of the column.
