Use

The IBM software product Backup Recovery and Media Services (BRMS) provides tools for automatic execution and administration of backups.

Note

The information given here applies only to online backups.

Using option *NOCMTBDY with BRMS

If the backup is performed using the IBM software product Backup Recovery and Media Services for i (BRMS), you can define option *NOCMTBDY in the backup control group. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Enter command WRKCTLGBRM with option 2 ( Edit the entries).

  2. For all entries that need to be saved while active, set the Save while active field to *LIB or *SYNCLIB. Make sure that the Retain object detail field is set to either *MBR or *YES. To leave this screen, enter F3.

  3. If you have changed values, choose option 1 on the next screen to save your changes and exit.

  4. Enter command WRKCTLGBRM with option 8 ( Change attributes).

  5. Scroll down to the third screen to the Save active wait time parameter. If you want to perform backups without considering transaction boundaries, make sure the Pending record changes field is set to *NOCMTBDY.

  6. In addition, make sure that the target release is at least V5R3M0.
