Creating Evaluations
Evaluations create worklists and statistics for all target languages defined in the system, and for all of the objects contained in the object list (or object lists) used for the evaluation.
For more information, see Evaluations.
Before you run an evaluation, ensure that the following criteria have been satisfied:
At least one object list has been created.
You have set up the translation environment for all the target languages for which you want to run the evaluation.
To run an evaluation with automatic distribution, you need to define distribution parameters for each required target language.
The collections to be included in the evaluation must be assigned to active translation graphs.
To run an evaluation with distribution, these graphs must have status D (active with distribution).
In LXE_MASTER, you are defined as a coordinator for target language **** and yourtranslator profile contains the authorization object WRKL with the value 01.
Call transaction LXE_MASTER.
On the
(Evaluations) tab page, choose
(Evaluations)
.
The Evaluations dialog box appears. Any previous evaluations are displayed in this dialog box.
Choose
(Create New Evaluation Run)
Enter a description of the evaluation in the Description field, and save your entry.
Note
The description that you enter here for the first evaluation of a new worklist number automatically becomes the description of the worklist itself. Translators see this description when they call up their worklists.
The Parameters dialog box appears.
In the field Worklist Number, enter the number of the worklist that you want this evaluation to create. The default worklist number is 1, and we recommend that you always use worklist number 1 — unless you have 2 or more translation projects in this system that you want to keep separate by means of the worklist number (for example, evaluations for project A use worklist number 1 and evaluations for project B have worklist number 2).
Note
Regardless of the worklist number that you use, make sure that you inform all parties involved in translation of the worklist number.
If you want automatic distribution to take place during the evaluation run, select the Activate Automatic Distribution checkbox.
If you want the system to refresh the statistics immediately before the start of the evaluation, select the Create Preliminary Statistics checkbox. If you want the system to create statistics immediately after the end of the evaluation, select the Create Statistics checkbox.
Note
We recommend that you select both statistics checkboxes so that you can compare the “before” and “after” effect of the evaluation (for example, how many new lines have arrived).
If you want to delete the current worklist, select the Delete Existing Worklist checkbox.
The system then deletes the existing worklists for this worklist number and rebuilds them based on the objects in the object list(s) that you selected for this evaluation. Objects that are not included in the object list(s) that you selected for this evaluation are removed from the worklists and statistics. This is a good way of removing objects from the worklists and statistics that have been deleted by developers since the last evaluation.
If you select the No Status Calculation checkbox, no real status calculation is performed. The system looks in the existing worklist for objects (in the relevant target language) instead. If found, the status is copied over. If not, the status is set to New with 1 line. We recommend that you do not select this checkbox.
If you select the Send E-Mail on Completion checkbox, an automatic mail notification is sent to defined recipients when the evaluation has finished.
Note
If you want to use this function, you must first configure the system so that documents can be sent by Internet mail.
You must also maintain the list of mail recipients:
Call transaction SE16.
In the Table Name field, enter LXE_MAIL and choose
(Create Entries).
In the USAGE KEY field, enter WL_DONE.
In the ADDRESS field, enter the recipient’s mail address. It is possible to enter a distribution list in this field.
In the ADDRESS TYPE field, enter U (Internet address).
Enter your user name and the current date in the administration fields for later reference.
Choose
(Save).
The Maximum Number of Parallel Jobs field enables you to define the number of background jobs that your evaluation may use in parallel. The value that you enter here depends on the number of background processes that are available in the system. If in doubt, use the default value 3, which means 3 background jobs run at any given time.
Note
If you leave this field blank, the evaluation takes control of as many background work processes as possible. This speeds up the evaluation, but may interfere with other people's work.
Under Object Selection, choose No Entries next to Object Lists.
The Object Lists dialog box appears.
Double-click the object list(s) that you want to evaluate (the most recent object list is the last in the list) and choose
(Execute).
This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of object lists that you selected is displayed on the pushbutton next to Object Lists.
To select the object types that you want to evaluate, choose No Entries next to Object Types.
The Object Type Selection (Groups) dialog box appears.
Double-click the object types to be evaluated and choose
(Execute).
This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of object types you selected is displayed on the pushbutton next to Object Types.
Note
The object types selected at this point do not override the object types defined in the translation environment for translation into a particular target language. For example, if you select object groups C5 to C7 for the evaluation, but have only defined object groups C5 and C6 for French in the translation environment, the evaluation for French will only include object groups C5 and C6.
To select the translation graphs that you want to evaluate, choose No Entries next to Graphs.
The Select Graph dialog box appears.
Double-click the graph(s) to be evaluated and choose
(Execute).
This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of translation graphs you selected is displayed on the pushbutton next to Graphs.
To select the target languages, choose No Entries next to Target Languages.
The Choose Target Language dialog box appears.
Double-click the target languages to be included in the evaluation and choose
(Execute).
This takes you back to the Parameters dialog box. The number of target languages you selected is displayed on the pushbutton next to Target Languages.
Note
If you want all object types, translation graphs, and target languages to be included in the evaluation, choose
(Select All) next to each of the pushbuttons.
Under RFC Copy, choose Activate if you want to copy texts and translation data using an RFC connection during the evaluation.
Choose
(Save).
This takes you back to the Evaluation dialog box.
Select your evaluation, and choose Activate.
Schedule the evaluation to run in the background.
The evaluation is executed in accordance with your settings. You can use transaction LXE_MASTER to monitor its progress.
After the evaluation has finished, worklists and statistics are available for the selected target languages. As soon as you have assigned collections to translators, manual translation can begin.
You may, however, want to reduce the manual translation workload by creating and processing top texts before you trigger manual translation. If you want your evaluation to start automatically after an object list has been generated, see SAP Note 1455870 for details.
