Exporting and Importing Wiki Spaces
Use this procedure to export one or more wiki spaces into an XML file and then to import this file to another system. When the export process is finished, this XML file has to be moved to the system where the exported content should be imported. The hierarchy of the transported wiki spaces in another system is not keep the same as it is in the previous system. You can find the imported spaces under the root space of the wiki application in the other system. When the transported wiki spaces have content that belongs to the anonymous user, this user is displayed as a Guest user.
The transport of wiki spaces into another system includes two operations: the first one is the export of wiki spaces and the second one is the import of wiki spaces. That is why when you export wiki spaces, you then have to import them into another system.
From the wiki administration console in the system from which you want to export wiki spaces, choose .
In the navigation pane, choose Export Spaces.
The following parameters are available for exporting spaces:

The following parameters are available for importing spaces:
Parameter |
Description |
|---|---|
Activate maintenance mode |
With this parameter you can guarantee that the content of wiki pages should not be modified when the import operation is started.
We recommend selecting Yes for this option, because in this way users cannot modify the content of wiki pages while the import process is running. Note that while this parameter is activated, the wiki content is locked for editing. When you import the content, this mode is deactivated automatically. End of the recommendation. |
Import folder |
The folder in which the wiki administrator has to copy the exported XML files of wiki spaces from the Export folder in the other system. |
Archive to import |
With this parameter you can select which exported XML files in the Import folder you should import into this system. |
Recommendation
We recommend first exporting the wiki spaces in the system for backup purposes, and then importing the XML files exported from another system. With this backup of the wiki spaces, you guarantee that if there are problems with the content after the import of XML files, you can restore the wiki spaces from the created backup.
Choose Import.
When the import of XML file is finished and in the system there are wiki spaces with the same name of the imported spaces, these imported spaces are added to the spaces in the system with the name that contains the time stamp information. The content of these wiki spaces is not overwritten.
Note
Note that if you have activated the Activate maintenance mode before exporting wiki spaces by choosing , you have to deactivate it manually when the import of wiki spaces is finished by choosing . Select No and then save your entry. When this mode is deactivated, the content is unlocked and users can edit it.
