Importing Translation Data
Before you import translation data (that is, fingerprints or proposal pools), see Translation Data Transports for the benefits of importing existing translation data into a new system where you intend to translate and an explanation of the basic concepts.
The translation data files that you exported must be available in a directory that the target system can access.
In the target system, call transaction LXE_MASTER and choose .
The Import Translation Data screen appears.
In the Directory field, enter the name of the directory that contains the translation data files to be imported.
Enter the name of the source system that the exported files have come from.
Enter the 4–character language ID for the target language of the files in the Target Language field. You use either F4 input help or select one of the following pushbuttons:
(Multiple Selection)allows you to enter more than one four-digit language code at once.
(Select from Graphs) inserts all of the target languages that are translated according to the translation graphs.
(Translation Languages) inserts all target languages defined in transaction LXE_MASTER.
(Insert from Files) looks in the directory that you entered in the Directory field and extracts the target languages from
the names of the export files that it finds there for the source system that you specified.
The checkbox Insert Mode is selected by default. Leave this checkbox selected if you want the target system only to import translation data that is not already in the system. If the target system already contains translation data (see Prerequisites in Exporting Translation Data on how to check this) you need to decide whether it is to be overwritten with the translation data from these files.
If no translation data exists for the source and target language combinations in the target system, leave the Insert Mode checkbox selected.
If translation data already exists for the source and target language combinations in the target system, and you are not sure of its quality, deselect the Insert Mode checkbox.
This ensures that in cases of conflicts, the translation data in the target system is overwritten with the translation data in the file to be imported.
If translation data already exists for the source and target language combinations in the target system, and you want it to remain unchanged by this import, leave the Insert Mode checkbox selected.
In the field Description, we recommend that you enter a meaningful description for your translation data imports so that you can easily recognize them later in table LXE_LOG_DATA_TRP.
In the Data Selection group box, specify if you want to import proposal pool files, fingerprint files, or both.
Note
If you are importing proposal pools and you want to import all proposals available in the file(s), then you can leave the default settings in the Proposal Pool Options group box unchanged and proceed to step 9 of this procedure.
If you want to import only those proposals that have a specific minimum quality status, then proceed as follows:
To import only proposals with status A, select A using F4 help in the Quality Status (From) field.
To import only proposals with status S or higher, select S using F4 help in the Quality Status (From) field.
Schedule this job to run in the background using or by pressing F9.
The system imports the translation data from the files in accordance with the criteria you specified.
The system creates entries for any fingerprint and proposal pool imports in table LXE_LOG_DATA_TRP so that you have a record of these import jobs.
