Basic Configuration for SAP PI Advanced Adapter Engine ExtendedLocate this document in the navigation structure

This is a mandatory step.

If you have installed SAP PI Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (AEX), you need to perform the basic configuration before you can start working with it. To perform the basic configuration steps, use the SAP NetWeaver configuration wizard.

The wizard performs the following configuration steps:

  • Creates service and dialog users

  • Assigns roles to the users

  • Creates user groups and assigns their roles

  • Initializes and configures the System Landscape Directory (SLD)

  • Sets the AII configuration service properties ( AII is the abbreviation of Application Integration Infrastructure )

  • Imports ESR content

Prerequisites

Before you start the SAP NetWeaver configuration wizard, AEX must have been installed using the installation tool (SAPInst). All PI services must be running.

We recommend that you ensure the following software components are updated to the most recent versions:

  • Life Cycle Management

    • LM CONFIGURATION (LMCFG)

    • LM CONFIGURATION WIZARD (LMCTC)

  • Advanced Adapter Engine Extended

    • MESSAGING SYSTEM SERVICE (MESSAGING)

    • XI ADAPTER FRAMEWORK (SAPXIAF)

    • XI TOOLS (SAPXITOOL)

    • ESR (SAPXIESR)

    • PI GUILIB (SAPXIGUILIB)

    • If you plan to set up your AEX in a clustered environment, and your system is on release SAP NetWeaver 7.3 EHP 1 SPS 01, follow the instructions in SAP Note 1650516 Information published on SAP site.

Procedure

Configuring AEX

To configure AEX, perform the following steps:

  1. Start the SAP NetWeaver Administrator ( http://<host>:<port>/nwa ).

  2. Choose Start of the navigation path Configuration Next navigation step Scenarios End of the navigation path.

  3. Start the configuration wizard.

  4. Choose Functional Unit Configuration UI .

  5. Select Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (AEX) .

  6. Choose Start .

Instead of these steps, you can configure AEX by entering https://<host>:<port>/sld/fun .

Once the wizard has completed the configuration, reboot the system.

Note

If you want to repeat the configuration, for example, after an error or after a system copy, you have to select the Functional Unit and choose Disable .

Note

If errors occur, proceed as follows:

  1. In the Show field, select History of Executed Configuration Tasks .

  2. Select the respective configuration task.

  3. Choose Download Log . You can attach the log to an error message to SAP.

Checking the AEX Configuration

To check whether the configuration was successful, perform the following steps:

  1. Check the user names and roles:

    1. Go to the Application Server Java start page at: http://<host>:<port>/startPage .

    2. Choose User Management .

    3. Search for the user names that you specified in the configuration wizard.

    4. Choose Roles and check whether the UME roles were assigned.

      Appropriate roles must be assigned to all users.

  2. Check the SLD configuration:

    1. Enter https://<host>:<port>/sld .

    2. Choose Technical Systems .

    3. Select Technical System Types: Process Integration . Check the existence of the following five entities:

      1. Adapter Engine on <SID><DB Host>

      2. Domain <DB Host>

      3. Integration Directory on <SID><DB Host>

      4. Integration Repository on <SID><DB Host>

      5. Integration Server on <SCS Host>

      Check the registration of a business system for the Integration Engine Java in the SLD:

      1. Enter https://<host>:<port>/sld .

      2. Choose Start of the navigation path Business System Next navigation step Integration Engine Java <SID> Next navigation step Integration End of the navigation path.

      3. The pipeline URL must be: http://<host_fully_qualified>:<port>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?ximessage=true .

  3. Check the Java system properties:

    1. In the SAP NetWeaver Administrator, choose Start of the navigation path Configuration Next navigation step Infrastructure Next navigation step Java System Properties End of the navigation path.

    2. Choose Services and check XPI Service: AII Config Service .

      The property com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.usage_type should have the value AEX .

    3. Also check that the *.serviceuser.name properties contain the correct user names.

  4. Check the content import:

    1. Go to the PI start page: https://<host>:<port>/dir/start/index.jsp .

    2. Start the Enterprise Services Repository (ESR) and log on as PISUPER .

    3. Check whether the import of the SAP Basis content of your release was successful.
