Ad-hoc items in Guided Procedures (GP) are actions that might be executed if certain conditions occur, but they do not change the general process flow.
In a job application process, an applicant does not meet all requirements but is still a strong candidate for an opening. The HR assistant is not authorized to take the decision to move the application forward, so he or she requests the explicit approval of the HR manager. This approval is typically not a part of the first phase in the hiring process. It can be implemented as an ad-hoc item.
To attach an action to be executed as an ad-hoc item, you must:
To open its design time, choose Open….
To do that, choose Map Parameters. Select a parameter in the left-hand table (for the ad-hoc item) and the parameter you want to map in the right-hand table. Finally, choose Done.
Parameter mapping is preserved unless the parameters of the new item are different. In this case, you need to define mappings again.
At runtime, the available ad-hoc items are displayed in the You Can menu for the process.
Make sure you define an appropriate process runtime view that includes the You Can Navigator. For more information about the available views, see Defining Runtime Views .
