Transporting PI Objects
You use this procedure to transport any PI object (systems, parties, integration flows, referenced channels and value mapping groups) or integration flows with their referenced entities (parties, systems and referenced channels used in the integration flow) from a development to test environment or from a test to a production environment using the File or CTS+ transport type. The File transport type allows you to export the objects from a source system to a locally stored .tpz file and import the file into a target system. If you want to export objects from a source system and easily import to multiple target systems in a landscape, you can choose CTS+ transport type.
Note
If you are transporting an integration flow that references to a business system, ensure that the business system is registered in the System Landscape Directory with a mapping that defines the transformation of the properties of the business system, such as the name, in the source system to the properties of the business system in the target system. If this mapping is not found, import of the integration flow fails.
For more details on how to configure transport targets in SLD, see and check the link Configure Groups and Transport Targets in the SLD section.
In the main menu, choose .
In the Export Objects dialog, select File as the Transport Type and the object type you want to export.
In the following screen, select the objects and choose Next.
Provide a name for the .tpz file and browse for a location to store the file.
Choose Finish.
Note
On Finish, the export runs in the background and the progress is indicated in the status bar. On completing the export, you are notified with a message.
Do not disconnect from the tool while exporting.
If the export fails, check the error log for details.
In the main menu, choose .
In the Import from File dialog, select the .tpz file from the folder location.
Choose Open.
Note
On Finish, the import runs in the background and the progress is indicated in the status bar. On completing import, you are notified with a message.
Do not disconnect from the tool while importing.
If the import fails, check the error log for more details.
Note
If you export .tpz files from the Integration Flow Tooling (Eclipse client), you have to import the files using the Eclipse client only. The same applies while transporting files using the Integration Builder (Swing client).
In the main menu, choose .
In the Export Objects dialog, select CTS+ as the Transport Type and the object type you want to export.
In the following screen, select the objects and choose Next.
In the Export configuration using CTS+, enter a name and description for the export request.
Note
The description that you enter here helps in recognizing the transport request in the Transport Organizer.
In the main menu, choose .
Choose Finish and note the Transport Request ID.
In the CTS+ web browser, release the request with the Transport Request ID.
Note
For more information on how to release and import transport request, see the topics for releasing and importing from transport request for non-ABAP objects under and select the link to Transporting Objects using CTS.
To import the PI Objects, follow the steps in the procedure Importing Transport Request with Non-ABAP objectsunder and select the link to Transporting Objects using CTS.
