If there are attributes in various models with values that have the same meaning and common analysis is possible, you can group these values in a cross-model attribute. This allows you to search for attributes across connectors or use a specific attribute to refine search results.

Cross-model attributes are independent of software components. Therefore, changes to a cross-model attribute immediately affect all models that are assigned to this attribute.

You can select cross-model attributes only on the Search UI, if all connectors selected for the search use this cross-model attribute.

Procedure

You can find the management function for cross-model attributes in the Search and Analysis Modeler in the Model Queries roadmap step in the right-hand screen area.

Creating Cross-Model Attributes

  1. To create a cross-model attribute, choose Manage Cross-Model Attributes.

  2. Use the list to choose the Create function.

  3. Specify the following parameters:

Specify your software component to take the cross-model attribute into account in transports.

Advanced Search

Specify whether or not the attribute is to be used in the advanced search on the Search UI.

Interactive Navigation

Specify whether or not the attribute is to be used for interactive navigation on the Search UI.

Sorting

No

Specify whether or not the attribute is to be used for sorting on the Search UI.

Name in Back End:

No

If the cross-model attribute supports DPS, you can find here the name of the attribute in the associated back-end system.

Deleting Cross-Model Attributes

  1. To delete a cross-model attribute, choose Manage Cross-Model Attributes.

  2. In the list, select the attribute to be deleted and choose the Delete function.

Assigning Cross-Model Attributes

  1. To assign a cross-model attribute to an attribute in the default query, select the attribute in the default query and choose the Add function in the Details: Assigned Cross-Model Attributes area on the right-hand side.

  2. In the list of all cross-model attributes, select one or more attributes and choose Choose.

Revoking the Assignment of Cross-Model Attributes

To revoke the assignment of a cross-model attribute to an attribute in the default query, select the attribute in the default query and choose the Remove function in the Details: Assigned Cross-Model Attributes area on the right-hand side.
