Process documentationConnecting a Software Component Locate this document in the navigation structure

In the standard system, Account Management (FS-AM) Software Component is connected to Postprocessing Office. You can, however, also use Postprocessing Office for your own software components.

Note Note

For an up-to-date list of the software components that are connected to Postprocessing Office in the standard system, see the system table Connected Software Components (/SAPPO/SAP_CMPNT).

End of the note.

All settings in Postprocessing Office are dependent on the software component. You can define the following characteristics specific to the software component:

  • Displaying and Processing Postprocessing Orders

  • Postprocessing Desktop overview screen

  • Postprocessing Desktop detail screen

  • Object area tab pages

  • Processing methods for participant object types

  • External display of the key fields for the objects

  • Search helps on the initial screen

  • Use and typing of your customer fields

  • Log area

Process

To be able to use Postprocessing Office for your software component, you need to implement Postprocessing Office in your system for your software component. Proceed as follows:

Define Software Components
  1. Execute the Customizing activity Define Software Component in Customizing for Postprocessing Office under Software Components.

  2. Execute the Customizing activity Define Selection Criteria for Postprocessing Orders in Customizing for Postprocessing Office under Order Data.

2. Define and Activate Business Processes

In Customizing for Postprocessing Office under Business Processes, at the very least, execute the Customizing activities Define Business Processes and Activate Creation of Postprocessing Orders for your own business processes.

3. Implementing Object Types
Defining Object Types
  1. Create the object type in one of the following ways:

    • In the Business Object Repository (BOR) in the customer namespace(Z range or /**/)

    • In Postprocessing Office in the customer namespace (Z range) by using a class or a function module

  2. Execute the Customizing activity Define Object Type in Customizing for Postprocessing Office under Object Types.

  3. If required, create your own function modules to be able to use the following options on the initial screen, the overview screen, or the detail screen of Postprocessing Desktop.

    • Overview and detail screens: Convert the internal object key to an external key for an object type

    • Initial screen: Enhance or change the search help for the object type and object key

      Note Note

The function modules must have an interface predefined by SAP. For more information, see Customizing for the Postprocessing Office under Object Types in the documentation for the Customizing activity Assign Object Types to Characteristics under Prerequisites.

      End of the note.

Enter your function modules in the Customizing activity Assign Object Types to Characteristics.

Creating Object Area Tab Pages

You can create one ore more tab pages for each object type that is displayed in the Postprocessing Desktop in the object area. Proceed as follows:

  1. For each tab page, define a subscreen and three function modules for the events

    PBO and

PAI as well as for updating the data.

    Note Note

The function modules must have an interface predefined by SAP. For more information, see Customizing for the Postprocessing Office under Object Types in the documentation for the Customizing activity Define Tab Page Display In Object Area under Prerequisites.

    End of the note.
  2. Execute the Customizing activity Define Tab Page Display In Object Area.

Implementing Processing Methods

When you create the dialog methods for the BOR object type, you are provided with these processing methods in the Processing Methods group box of the object area in the detail screen for Postprocessing Desktop.

If you execute the Customizing activity Define Processing Methods and Assign Object Types or Define Processing Methods for Component/Process and Assign Object Types in Customizing for Postprocessing Office under Object Types, you also have the following control options:

  • You can assign your own methods or those delivered by SAP to your object types or to those delivered by SAP.

  • You can deactivate methods delivered by SAP, change their description and/or change the display sequence of the methods on the detail screen of the Postprocessing Desktop in the Processing Methods group box.

4. Connecting Business Processes

To connect a business process to Postprocessing Office, call the following Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPIs):

  • PostprocessingOrder.SetContext

  • PostprocessingOrder.Create

  • PostprocessingOrder.Save

For more information, see the BAPI documentation in the BAPI Explorer.

5. Creating Your Own Customizing Structures

If required, you can include the Customizing views that you need in your own Customizing structure. This has the following advantages:

  • You can set up the Customizing structure to meet your own requirements, and include only the views that you need.

  • You can define a software component default so that you do not need to specify one for every Customizing activity. In the Customizing activities, the system displays only the entries that were created for your software component. You need to create a suitable report transaction for this in the customer namespace and then enter it in all Customizing activities in your Customizing structure on the Maintenance Object tab page.

For more information, refer to Customizing Structure Maintenance.

You can, however, also enter all your settings directly in the Implementation Guide (IMG) delivered by SAP for Postprocessing Office under the CA-GTF-TS-PPO component.

6. Creating Your Own Area Menu

If required, you can include the transactions of the Postprocessing Office that you need in your own area menu. For more information, see Area Maintenance Menu.

You can also start all transactions directly from the SAP Easy Access screen under   Cross-Application Components   Postprocessing Office  .

Result

You can use Postprocessing Office for your own software components.
