Creating Links to Source of Term
When creating a term in SAPterm, you can add a link to existing SAP documentation in order to provide extra information on the term. For example, you can create a link from a term to the following object types:
Documentation Object Type |
Class Name in SAPterm |
|---|---|
Implementation Guide documentation |
|
Data element documentation |
DE |
Dialog texts |
DT |
Data element supplement documentation |
DZ |
Function module documentation |
FU |
Knowledge Warehouse documentation |
KENO |
Message documentation |
NA |
Release notes |
RELN |
General texts |
GT |
Note
Contact the SAPterm administrator if you need to create a link to documentation belonging to a non-allowed object type. The administrator can allow additional object types in SAPterm when necessary.
The term exists in the SAP System or in the Knowledge Warehouse documentation.
You need to know the technical name and the object type of the documentation to which you wish to create a link.
Note
If you are creating a link, you can also search for the information object to which you want to create a link.
Such links can only be created in entry maintenance.
Proceed as described in Create Term, and enter data as described in Maintenance Dialog: Edit Entry.
On the Edit Entry screen, choose
(Link to Source).
The screen Edit Links to Term Source Information appears.
Enter the Class of the documentation object. See the table above for the available documentation object types and their classes. You can use F4 help in the Class field to help you.
Enter the document name in the Document field.
Note
To maintain a link to an individual information object in the Knowledge Warehouse, use the F4 help on the Document field to search for the information object to which you wish to create a link.
The dialog box Info Category appears. To create a link to an individual information object, select Topic and choose Copy. The Find Info Object dialog box appears. Enter
as much information as possible as selection criteria in order to restrict the search and choose
(Execute). Entering the technical name of an information object is the most
efficient way of locating it.
The results of your search are displayed in the dialog box Choose Info Object. Select the information object you require and choose Copy Info Object. The document name of the information object is now inserted in the Document field.
Example
You wish to create a link to a piece of documentation from the Implementation Guide. The technical name of this documentation is CHAPSIMG_EXAMPLE. To create a link to this documentation object, you need to enter CHAP in the Class field, and enter SIMG_EXAMPLE in the Document field.
To test that the correct documentation is displayed for this term, choose Display.
Choose
(Save) to save your entries.
The link to the source of the term is created in the terminology database.
