You use message monitoring to search for Web service messages that were sent or received on your system using Web Services Reliable Messaging (WS-RM). You monitor messages, for example, in the following cases:

  • To track the status of Web service messages.

  • To find errors that have occurred and establish what caused them.

Message monitoring has two different modes for searching for Web service messages in the database:

  • In standard mode, you can use a particular message status to search for Web service messages processed within a particular time period.

  • In advanced mode, you can use additional criteria to search for messages. This way you can narrow down the search results and view only messages you need.

In each mode, you can restrict the number of Web service messages to be displayed.

Prerequisites

  • You have started SAP NetWeaver Administrator and have chosen   SOA   Monitoring   Message Monitoring  .

  • The user account you use is allowed to access the sequence monitor. For more information, see Authorizations.

Procedure

Searching in Standard Mode
  1. Select the required message status.

  2. Select the time period that the search is to cover.

  3. Start the search.

Searching in Advanced Mode
  1. While in standard mode, select the required message status and the time period.

  2. Choose Advanced.

  3. Select the additional criteria and enter the necessary information.

For more information about the additional search criteria available in advanced mode, see Advanced Search of Web Service Messages.

  4. Start the search.

Result

The system lists the selected Web service messages along with their attributes in a table. You can refresh the table to obtain the most recent search results. When you select a specific Web service message, you can do the following:

  • Display the details (attributes with values) of the message.

  • Display the content of the message.

  • View the audit log of the message.

  • Terminate or resend the message.
