Starting the BPM System
The BPM system automatically starts when the SAP NetWeaver Java system is started. No additional action is needed to start the BPM system.
In this section some hints and checklists are provided to ensure a proper start of the BPM system.
To start the SAP NetWeaver Java system:
On Windows, use the SAP Microsoft Management Console (SAP MMC).
Recommendation
Use the SAP MMC as it provides all monitors to verify the system is correctly starting. It also helps to rapidly detect if applications or services cannot be started.
For more information about SAP MMC, see Starting and Stopping SAP Systems and Instances with the SAP MMC (Windows)
On UNIX and Linux, use the SAP start scripts to start each server instance in the following sequence:
Start the database instance.
Start the SCS instance.
Start the Java instances.
For more information about the SAP start script, see SAP Start Service.
Once the SAP NetWeaver Java system has started, ensure the BPM system is available:
Log on to your Solution Manager and enter the Workcenter (SOLMAN_WORKCENTER).
Choose .
Select the BPM system that you want to monitor and start the system monitor.
Ensure the BPM kernel monitors (Mode Status, Mode Change Status and Consistency Status) are green.

Log on to the SAP NetWeaver Administrator, and choose .
Ensure all started server nodes are listed.
Ensure all server nodes are green.
If the SAP NetWeaver Java system cannot start because of one of the BPM services or applications but the system must be started so that business users can access non-related BPM applications, you need to disable the BPM system.
The following procedure describes how to disable the BPM system using the Config Tool. You can also use the Command Console Config Tool. For more information about using the console based configuration tool to disable services, see Command Console Config Tool.
Start the Config Tool by executing the configtool script file from <SAP_install_dir>/<system_name>/<instance_name>/j2ee/configtool directory.
To activate the expert mode, in the View menu, choose Expert Mode.
Select the template node and go to the Filters tab.
Disable the service com.sap.glx.core.svc of the vendor sap.com.
Save your changes and restart the entire system to apply the changes.
