Deleting Terms

Prerequisites

To delete a term, you need superuser authorization.

Before you delete a term, you first need to call up a Where-used list for this term, to check that this term is not used in any glossary links or as an index entry. For more information, see Displaying the where-used list in Terminology Concept.

Procedure

Call up transaction STERM.

Enter the term you want to delete and choose Find.

If only one term matches your search criteria, the terminology concept for this term appears.

If more than one term matches your search criteria, the system displays the results list. To display the Terminology concept of the term you wish to delete, select the term and choose Goto ® Select term concept.

In the Terminology concept screen for this term, choose Edit ® Delete entire entry.

A dialog box Knowledge Warehouse Context Attribute Query appears.

Choose Enter to check that no documentation objects contain links to this term.

A dialog box appears, asking you to confirm that you wish to delete the entire terminology concept.

If a glossary entry exists for this term, an additional dialog box will appear informing you of this fact.

Choose Yes.

Result

If no glossary entry exists for this term, the system deletes the term and its concept.

If a glossary entry exists for this term, the system sets the term to status 4 (pending deletion). Terms with status 4 are then deleted at regular intervals by the SAPterm administrator.
