Modifying an Object
Customers have the option of modifying objects that are shipped by SAP. This is useful, for example, if customers want to reuse objects shipped by SAP in their own developments.

Note that when a system is upgraded, conflicts may occur between the new objects shipped by SAP and the objects modified by the customer (see Version Conflict).
SAP data types can be enhanced without the need for modifications by using data type enhancements.

The guidelines and procedures for modifying objects are explained in detail in the document Customer Developments and Modifications in the Integration Repository.
You can find this document in the SAP Community Network SDN under https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/soa-modeling. Under Previous Releases, choose SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.0 and on the following page, choose the Guide for Customer Developments and Modifications in the Integration Repository document.
Modifications are made in a customer-specific software component version that is based on the SAP software component version in which the object to be modified is defined (see Underlying Software Component Versions).
The SAP objects are displayed in the Integration Repository in the customer software component version in the Basis Objects subtree.
● Modifying the Object
Open the
object to be modified (in the navigation area in the Basis Objects
subtree of the customer software component). Once you have saved for the first
time, the icon
with the quick info Modified and
Changed is displayed in the navigation area next to the object.
● Activating the Modified Object
Activate the
change
list containing the modified object. Once you have activated, the icon
with the quick info Modified is
displayed in the navigation area next to the object.
● Deleting the Modification
Delete the modified object (in the navigation area in the Basis Objects subtree of the customer software component version) and activate the change list with the delete version. All modifications will be undone. In the customer software component, the SAP original ‘shines through’ again.
