Function documentation Displaying and Managing Messages  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use this function to list all messages that are received or sent in the component, and all messages in which errors occurred during processing.

You can also select archived messages. To do this, choose Messages from Archive.

Prerequisites

You have started the message monitor from the start page of the SAP Partner Connectivity Kit and are in message monitoring.

Activities

·        To display the messages, choose Start.

You can leave the default settings as they are or enter filter criteria to search for particular messages.

·        To limit the number of selected messages, choose the desired value from the Maximum Number dropdown list box.

Then, choose Start. The system lists the selected messages.

·        To update the message display, choose Update.

·        To display more information about a particular message, select the message and choose Details.

This displays the message details in a separate window. There are also the following additional options:

¡        Message data

The message data provides all available information about a message in the form of a table.

¡        Message content

In the case of XI messages, this option displays the envelope and payload of the message. In the case of other messages, this option displays the respective message.

¡        Audit log

This option displays the audit log for the selected message as the default.

¡        Message Security (only for messages with security information; see also Message-Level Security in the SAP XI Security Guide).

The system displays the security agreements for the selected message and the certificates used.

The displayed security agreements contain details about the partner profile and other security settings for non-repudiation and encryption purposes.

The displayed values for the certificates used are used to uniquely identify these certificates and the private key used.

The Persist Until field displays how long the message was stored in the database before archiving. The Archiving Directory field displays the directory in which the message was archived. This field remains empty as long as the time entered in the Persist Until field is in the future.

To archive messages, you must have started the corresponding archiving session beforehand. Messages are then archived using XML-based archiving. The monitor of this archiving function enables you to monitor the archiving sessions used. You can then restart archiving sessions with errors.

·        To select messages that reference a specific message, select the message and choose Referencing Messages.

This action also activates the filter.

·        To select messages that are referenced by a specific message, select the message and choose Referenced Message.

This action also activates the filter.

·        To process messages with errors again, choose Repeat.

·        To cancel the processing of messages with errors, choose Cancel.

·        To process or cancel multiple messages simultaneously, choose Multiple Selection.

You can now select multiple messages and repeat or cancel processing.

Note

Not all messages with errors can be processed again, or canceled manually. This depends on the type of error.

·        To display log entries for messages that were not generated at the Adapter Engine inbound channel and thus not persisted, choose Error Log. This provides information about messages that were received using adapters, but that have not reached the Adapter Engine.
