Function documentation Generation Log  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

The generation log contains the results of generation.

The log window can be left open in a separate window to the integration scenario configurator until the Integration Builder is closed. You can open as many log windows as required.

A generation log is displayed even when generation is terminated. You can also open a generation log after generation is complete, to view logs saved in local files at a later date, for example.

Prerequisites

To open the generation log, from the integration scenario configurator menu bar, choose Generation  ® Open. The generation log is opened automatically when generation of an object is complete.

Features

A generation log comprises multiple screen areas that you can expand or collapse as required (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text or This graphic is explained in the accompanying text).

The screen areas offer the following information:

Header Area

Contains the integration scenario (component view) key data from the Integration Repository and the configuration scenario key data from the Integration Directory.

Using the Log

Contains information about how to use the log.

Generation Settings

Lists the options that generation was started with:

·        The generation mode used (simulation or create mode)

·        The change list in which the generated objects were saved

If you want to delete all the results of a generation run, you simply need to delete the complete change list.

The type of objects generated is also displayed.

Generation Statistics

Lists the number of new, changed, or reused objects (receiver determinations and interface determinations). If any errors occurred during generation, these are also displayed.

Selected Component View

This screen area shows the results of generation in detail. The results are itemized according to the connections from the corresponding integration scenario.

The screen areas for the individual connections comprise a header area and an expandable detailed area. The source and target actions are always visible. The header area contains traffic lights for all configuration objects belonging to the connection to indicate whether generation errors occurred and where manual editing work is required.

The object key is displayed in the title line of each object. To open an object, click the key. If no key exists for an object (as is the case in simulation mode, for example), an error message is displayed. The processing status is indicated by a traffic light:

·        Green light: No manual work required for this object

·        Amber light: Configuration object could not be specified completely (for example, in routing conditions)

·        Red light: An error occurred during generation when changing the object

The following additional information relevant for generation is displayed for each object:

·        Analyzing

Analysis of the situation prior to generation.

Example

In the case of a receiver determination, for example, the additional receiver services that are required to configure the integration scenario are specified here.

·        Results

Specifies whether the generated object was created, reused, or modified.

Example

In the case of a receiver determination, for example, the additional receiver services that were added to the object are specified here.

·        Notes

Example

In the case of a receiver determination, for example, you are told to check the conditions here.

Additional Configuration Objects

This screen area displays any other receiver or interface determinations that are assigned to the configuration scenario.

Other Functions

The following additional functions are available in the toolbar at the top of the log window:

To load and display a generation log from a local file, from the menu bar, choose File  ®  Open. All the log navigation options are available when you load a log from a file in this way.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Saves the generation log as an XML file. The default file name is the name of the configuration scenario followed by the extension .xml.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Prints the generation log currently displayed. Note that a completely expanded version of the log is always printed.
