Activating Message Packaging
To use message packaging, you must first activate it.
To activate message packaging, your Integration Server and all involved receiver systems must have SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Support Package Stack 13 or higher installed. Otherwise, messages can only be processed individually.

This prerequisite also applies for the non-central Adapter Engines. If it is not met, you must manually deactivate the sending of message packages to these Adapter Engines.
You can find out the version of an SAP receiver system by choosing Service Without Party in the System Landscape Directory (SLD). The data is saved in a cache table and is updated once daily. In this way, the Integration Server can automatically determine whether the receiver system can process packages.
To activate message packaging, proceed as follows:
...
1. Call transaction SXMB_ADMIN.
2. Choose Configuration ® Configure Integration Engine.
3. Under Specific Configuration Data, select the RUNTIME category.
4. Choose Specific Configuration.
5. Select the entry with the category 'RUNTIME', parameter 'PACKAGING', current value '0' (packaging deactivated), and the default '0' (no packaging).
6. Set the current value to 1.
Packaging is now activated.
