This section contains information about the administration tasks required to run a system with the usage type Mobile Infrastructure (MI) from SAP NetWeaver. It provides an overview of the tools required to perform MI-specific tasks, with references to the relevant, detailed documentation.

Since the MI usage type requires the usage types AS ABAP and AS Java, it is also important to refer to the information in the sections AS ABAP (Application Server for ABAP) and AS Java (Application Server for Java).

Technical System Landscape

The Technical System Landscape shows the main technical components of the MI usage type as well as the communication between these components.

Tools

You use the following tools to administrate and monitor Mobile Infrastructure:

SAP NetWeaver Mobile Administrator

You use the Mobile Administrator to manage mobile devices. You can find the relevant functions in SAP NetWeaver Administrator in the Administration area under Mobile Infrastructure. You also have access to SAP MI in the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) in the Monitoring area of SAP NetWeaver Administrator.

Administration-Toolkit

The administration toolkit provides the following functions for the administration of Smart Synchronization:

Profile Dialog:
Maintenance of Smart Synchronization configuration data

Monitoring Tool:
Display of synchronization messages with different views

Log Tool:
Display of processing logs

Purge Tool:
Deletion of obsolete runtime history data from the system

Migration Tool:
Transport of SyncBO definitions from one SAP Web AS to another

Scenarios with MI

The usage type MI is a prerequisite for the IT scenario Mobilizing Business Processes. The following variants of this scenario exist:

·        Enabling Mobile Applications for Occasional Connection

·        Running Mobile Applications with an Online Connection

No additional administration tasks for the usage types AS ABAP, AS Java or MI apply to either of these variants.
