Component documentation RNIF Adapters  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

RNIF adapters support the data communication standard – RosettaNet Implementation Framework (RNIF) defined by RosettaNet. This standard defines RNIF protocols version 1.1 and 2.0. The RNIF adapters 1.1 and 2.0 are based on these protocols.

The adapters change the XI message format to the required RosettaNet message format. The adapters also change the format of messages from partner systems to the XI system.

You use RNIF adapters to send messages between the Integration Server and a RosettaNet-compliant system.

For more information about RNIF, see www.rosettanet.org.

Implementation Considerations

You implement RNIF adapters when you want to communicate with partner systems that do not understand the XI message format.

Integration

RNIF adapters form part of the Adapter Engine, which is a component of the Integration Server. The following components describe the integration of RNIF adapter with other components:

SAP Business Package for RosettaNet

Provides you with an end-to-end solution for collaborative commerce based on high tech industry standards.

For more information about the SAP Business Package for RosettaNet, see SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/ibc ® Industry Solutions ® SAP for High Tech ® Order to Invoice – RosettaNet ® Master Guide – SAP Business Package for RosettaNet.

For more information about the integration of RNIF adapter with XI, see Communication Using Industry Standards.

For more information about other adapters you can use with XI, see Adapters.

Features

The RNIF adapters can perform the following tasks:

Send messages from XI to a RosettaNet-compliant system.

Receive messages from a RosettaNet-compliant system.

Transport, package, and route all PIP messages, and business signals based on the relevant information retrieved at runtime from the Integration Repository and Integration Directory.

Provide measures to enforce the security, authentication, authorization, confidentiality, and message integrity.
