Administration of Generic Object
Services
The generic object services are offered by various components. Settings must be made in these components before the relevant object services are made available to users. Here you receive an overview of these settings. Extensive information can be found in the documentation on the individual components.
To be able to perform the settings, you must have the authorizations contained in the roles SAP_BC_SRV_GBT, SAP_BC_BMT_WFM_ADMIN and SAP_BC_SRV_ARL_ADMIN.
The roles SAP_BC_SRV_USER and SAP_BC_SRV_ARL_USER must be assigned to the users of generic object services (transaction SU01).
For
more information on roles see
Users and Roles
(BC-CCM-USR).
The authorizations for the generic object services are independent of the authorizations for the business objects. Users can also use the object services for the objects for which they have no change authorization. The object is not changed by the object services.
All users have display authorization for shared attachments and notes. Only the user that created the attachment or note has the authorization to make changes.
Only the user that created a private note has the authorization to display it or to change it.
Display and change authorizations for sent documents depend on the sensitivity of the messages. All users can display the complete list of sent objects for an object. Details (for example, contents and recipient list) of a document that is confidential may only be viewed by the sender and recipients. On the other hand, all users can access document marked as standard or functional.
For the functions Store Business Document and Enter Barcode, an optical archive must be connected to the SAP system. For more information on the settings required in the SAP system, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) documentation under Application Server ® Basis Services ® ArchiveLink ® Basic Customizing:
The graphic shows the connection between object type, document type and document class. The transactions used to maintain the connections between these units is also shown.

You must additionally activate storage with barcodes for all object types used for the function bar code entry (IMG activity Active bar code storing, transaction OAC5).
The graphic shows late automatic storage with bar code recognition.

For
more information see
ArchiveLink.
Sending is carried out internally using the Business Workplace. Messages are created that contain a link to the object as an attachment. By double-clicking on the attachment, the users can call the default method of the object. This is normally the display method.
For
more information, see
Administration of Send, Folder
and Office Functions.
To send to external recipients, the communication environment must be created and configured.
For
more information, see
SAPconnect
(BC-SRV-COM). An overview of the necessary settings can be found
there in
External Sending in the
SAP system.
A URL can be converted from the business objects sent from the SAP system, using which, external recipients can access objects. The prerequisite for this is that an SAP Internet Transaction Server (ITS) with the package for the SAP GUI for HTML (webgui.car) has been configured.
For the function Start workflow, the workflows are offered to the users who fulfill the following conditions:
● The user must have the authorization to start the relevant workflow.
● The workflow is only allowed to have the current object as an obligatory import parameter.

Tasks that can be executed in the dialog are not included.
For
more information, see SAP Business
Workflow (BC-BMT-WFM) in
Workflow System
Administration and in
Starting Manual
Workflows in the section Starting Workflows with Object
Reference.
For the function Archived Workflows the archive must be connected to the SAP system and configured in the SAP system.
Searching
in the archive is easier for the user if the
Archive Information
System is configured. You must make the following
settings:
●
Activate the archive info structure SAP_BO_2_WI_001 (from the central archiving
transaction SARA by choosing Infosystem
® Customizing)
●
Create the archive infostructure SAP_BO_2_WI_001
(by choosing
Infosystem ® Status).
For
more information, see
CA Application Data
Archiving in the section
Archiving Work Items
(BC-BMT-WFM).
For the function Object subscribe / terminate, you can set the events that the subscribers should be informed of for each object type. As standard, the subscribers are informed of the events CHANGED and DELETED for all object types.
For the function Edit my objects (favorites), you can configure standard folders that you can then assign users using their roles.
For more information, see Setting Events for Subscribed Objects and Setting Standard Folders for My Objects .
So that users can use the telephony functions in the SAP system, the telephony integration must be created and activated.
You
will find more information in
SAPphone
(BC-SRV-COM) in the section
Setting Up Telephone
Integration.
