SAP Demand Signal Management uses BW hierarchies for products and locations. To make hierarchy data available for reporting, you can use one of the following approaches:
Extracting company-internal hierarchies
You extract company-internal hierarchies from SAP ECC to BW hierarchies using the InfoObjects Material (0MATERIAL) and Customer (0CUSTOMER). With the help of joins and double joins, you can use these hierarchies when reporting on specific InfoObjects in SAP Demand Signal Management.
Note
To work with double joins, you have to create a CompositeProvider.
You extract company-internal hierarchies to BW hierarchies of the InfoObjects in SAP Demand Signal Management, for example, InfoObject Product (/DDF/PRODREF) and Location (/DDF/LOCREF). Joining these InfoObjects allows you to use the corresponding hierarchies in reporting. SAP Demand Signal Management provides specific transformations for this purpose.
Extracting company-external hierarchies
Market research companies send multiple hierarchies in a parent-child relationship along with the hierarchy metadata that explains the format and descriptions of the hierarchies and theirs nodes. This information can be uploaded to the InfoObjects Product (/DDF/PRODUCT) and Location (/DDF/LOCREF).
