Editing Access Limits
On the Access Limits tab page in the Access Limits group box, you edit the access limits stored for the account. You can use access limits to monitor and restrict customer turnover for certain transaction types.
An access limit is a value-based restriction of turnovers from a particular turnover class on an account within a defined period of time. Access limits are required in turnover processing for the access limit check. If the access limit is exceeded by an additional turnover, the turnover processing is controlled accordingly. The system generates an error message that is interpreted by the posting control rules.
Access limits are generally defined in Customizing, and can be stored for the product. For more information on this, refer to the Prerequisites section of this document.
The following access limits exist:
· Access limits that are required for each contract of a product.
You have stored these access limits as default values in the Customizing for the corresponding product and set the Cannot Be Deleted indicator.
· Access limits that are proposed when you create a contract, but that can be deleted either when you create the contract or later.
You have stored these access limits as default values in the Customizing for the corresponding product and not set the Cannot Be Deleted indicator.
· Access limits that can be assigned to or deleted from a contract when you create it or later.
You have defined these access limits in the Customizing for the access limit types. You may have defined the permitted access limits by restricting values in the product Customizing.
You have created the event numbers required to differentiate between error messages in the Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM) under Item Management ® Posting Control Rules ® Define Own Check Results.
You have created the turnover classes required (if you do not want to use existing turnover classes) in the Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM) under Item Management ® Turnover Classes for Flexible Account Balances.
You have defined access limit types in the Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM) under Item Management ®Turnover Classes for Flexible Account Balances ®Edit Access Limit Types and assigned event numbers and turnover classes to them.
You have permitted the attributes for access limits and defined default values and detailed settings for each access limit type, if required. You do this in the product Customizing under Account Management ® Product Management ® Product Definition ® Create or Change Account Product.

You want to restrict the total amount of debit memos presented, minus returns, for an account within a specified period of time.
Debit memos given for collection
· can be challenged by the payer
· can be returned by the payer’s bank if there are insufficient funds
There is therefore a credit risk involved in paying collection amounts and it is not practical to make postings subject to final payment.

You want to restrict the total cash withdrawals on an account for minors within a defined period of time.
The bank is permitted to pay customers who are not of full contractual capacity, as determined in the German Taschengeldparagraphen law (whereby minors have the right to carry out transactions without their parents’ permission provided they are spending pocket money or their own earnings). This applies to all withdrawals in a period of time rather than just one individual withdrawal.
